handbuilt to order

All of the bicycles and frames I build are built to order. They are all custom fit with bespoke geometry. They can be brazed, tig welded or built with lugs. I’ll talk you through every stage, from ensuring we get something that fits you and is comfortable, has the features and elements that you want and the components are chosen to work for your specific needs. Most of what I do falls into one of three categories ; AllRoad, MTB or Road. There are some examples with guide pricing below. But since every bike is different, prices are going to vary depending on exactly the specification we end up with. For more information on placing an order, see here : ordering.

oponki

Oponki is the name I’ve given the type of bike I build most. I’d describe this as an AllRoad bike. It's not a really a model. Oponkis are all different but share a common thread. Think of the Oponki as a state of mind.

Simply, the Oponki is a comfortable bike designed to be ridden over longer distances with the minimum of maintenance. Almost all Oponkis will use an internal gear hub, most utilise a belt rather than a chain. Most will have a touring-type flat bar like a ‘Loop’ bar, but some will have drop bars. Disk brakes, handbuilt wheels and a steel frame. Carbon or steel fork and loads of braze-ons for accessories/bags/lights/mudguards. The Oponki can be tig-welded or fillet brazed. Fillet brazed looks nicer but is more expensive (an extra £350). All Oponkis are built to order and are custom fit. If you think the Oponki might be right for you, get in touch.

kabuni

Kabunis have big tyres. More mountain bike than gravel or road. Normally they’ll have flat bars, or maybe loop bars. They do sometimes have drop bars but that’s less common. Suspension forks or rigid forks. The Kabuni is what I’d ride if I have no idea what kind of terrain I’m going to encounter. Or if I know the riding is going to be tough. Mostly off-road. It’s a mountain bike really. But more of an old-school mountain bike. An ATB. They love the singletrack and like going up as much as coming down. The Kabuni will probably have tons of braze-ons for racks/bags etc. Ideal for bikepacking. Regular derailleur or Rohloff internal gear hub.

Like all of my bikes, the Kabuni is built to order and is custom fit.

bustrengo

The Bustrengo is similar to the Oponki but built to be a little nimbler. It normally utilises a tubeset with thinner walls making it a little lighter and a wee bit livelier. Geometry and fit like all other bikes is fully custom but the geometry is normally a little racier. Maybe not as comfortable as the Oponki for multi-day touring but has a bit more zing for shorter faster rides.
