all-road

I used to call this bike the Oponki. Giving model names to bikes can get problematic when there are loads of options and each bike is unique, so I’m moving away from model names.

Simply, the all-road is a comfortable bike designed to be ridden over longer distances with the minimum of maintenance. Designed to handle moderately rugged terrain. Not a mountain bike, but clearance for fairly wide tyres, around 50mm. Equally at home on road as well as forest roads, smooth singletrack and gravel. A lot of these bikes will use an internal gear hub, and most of these utilise a belt rather than a chain. If it doesn’t have a hub gear, it’ll probably have a derailleur transmission with a wide gear range. A touring setup or gravel, maybe. Most will have a touring-type flat bar like a ‘Loop’ bar, but some will have drop bars. Disk brakes, handbuilt wheels and a steel frame. Carbon or steel fork and loads of braze-ons for accessories/bags/lights/mudguards. The all-road will be tig-welded. All-road bikes are all built to order and are custom-fit.
