off-road
MTBS used to be called Kabunis. I’m moving away from model names, though, so now bikes fall into one of three categories; road, all-road and off-road. These off-road bikes all have big tyres and are designed primarily for dirt. That might be tearing around a trail centre or might be loaded for an off-road tour. Normally they’ll have flat bars, or maybe loop bars. They do sometimes have drop bars, but that’s less common. Suspension forks or rigid forks. This is what I’d ride if I had no idea what kind of terrain I’m going to encounter. Or if I know the riding is going to be tough. Mostly off-road. It’s a mountain bike. But more of an old-school mountain bike. An ATB. They love the singletrack and like going up as much as coming down. It’ll probably have tons of braze-ons for racks/bags etc. Ideal for bikepacking. Regular derailleur or Rohloff internal gear hub.
Like all of my bikes, the off-road models are all built to order and are custom-fit.
